Philippines Day-2 (01/21/25)

On the first morning upon arriving in the Philippines, it happened to coincide with the Pinning Day Ceremony. Alhamdulillah, we had the opportunity to participate in the event and receive pins. In short, the Pinning Day Ceremony is an event where parents or guardians attach pins to their children as a symbol of their readiness to start internships or step into their roles as teachers or professionals in their respective fields.

After the ceremony, we were invited to have lunch together. We were served halang-halang, which turned out to taste quite similar to lodeh.


Later, we were taken on a tour around the SLSU campus and warmly welcomed by the lecturers and staff.

We also had a casual interview for the SLSU website or Facebook page.

In the evening, seven buddies came to our cottage to try Mie Sedap, and we enjoyed a relaxed chat together.

H-1 Before Leaving for PPL in the Philippines

Hellooo, this is my first blog in the PPL series in the Philippines. Let me introduce myself first. My name is Ichda Aulia Rohman, but people usually call me Lia. Philippines Day-3 (01/22/25)

8:30 AM, we attended an Educational Forum on Cross-Cultural Understanding (CCU). Ma'am Irma was one of the speakers and delivered an insightful presentation on basic culture and religion in Indonesia. At the end of the session, she added a fun twist by giving the participants a quiz about her presentation. Those who answered correctly received a special Indonesian-themed brooch as a prize. There was also a beautiful performance of traditional Indonesian songs by the student-teachers who will soon visit Indonesia. For lunch, we dined with Ma'am Irma, Ma'am Nurla, and some other lecturers. We enjoyed capcai and a sweet soy chicken dish from the Philippines (I can’t remember its local name!). In the afternoon, we were introduced to the teachers at Labschool SLSU and shown the classrooms we’d be using for our teaching demonstrations. Philippines Day-1 (01/20/25)

 In the morning, we arrived in Manila, and Alhamdulillah, there was a prayer room provided at Manila Airport. We reached Tacloban Airport around 5 PM and were welcomed by Ma'am Liliane and Noy. They took us to a mall and treated us to Jollibee, which is very popular in the Philippines. After that, we traveled for over 2 hours to Southern Leyte. When we arrived at the place we would be staying for a month, I was so grateful because we were given a very comfortable cottage, fully equipped with all the necessities we needed. And when we reached the front door, we were warmly greeted by our buddies—yay!
